We are just receiving the tragic news that Paul Broadbent, 54 years, former Chief Superintendent in SYP and then ACC in Notts has been found dead. Paul worked across South Yorkshire, mostly in CID and after retirement became the head of the gang masters licensing authority. Paul's funeral took place on Tuesday 30 January 2018.

Former Sergeant Patrick Keenan, 74 years, Bn has died suddenly in Rotherham Hospital on Saturday 16 December 2017. He worked in Rotherham, Rawmarsh and Mexborough areas. His funeral took place on Wednesday 10 January 2018.

Former PC Dennis Leitch, 82 years, has passed away. I think Dennis served at West Bar. His funeral took place on Friday 15 December 2017.

Former Chief Superintendent John Rusling, 88 years, has passed away. John was 88 years. John has not had a funeral as he has donated his body to Sheffield University.

Former Sergeant Peter Gilbertson, 70 years, has died. Details are not known at this time. His funeral took place  on Friday 8 December 2017.

Former Superintendent Barry FURNESS, 83 years has passed away. Barry retired as the sub-divisional commander at Woodseats. He also served in Complaints & Discipline and elsewhere across Sheffield throughout his career. His funeral took place on Thursday 7 December 2017.

Former DC Edwin Leslie Halsall, 71 years who lived in High Green, Sheffield. He retired in 1982after serving in Penistone and Barnsley. No funeral details yet.

Former PC Jim Larkin, 91 years, has passed away. Jim joined Sheffield City Police in 1947 and served at Ecclesfield and Hammerton Road, retiring as the area bobby for Parsons Cross. Jim's funeral took place Wednesday 15  November 2017.

Former Detective Constable Alf Hale, 69 years, died suddenly at the weekend. Alf served across Barnsley Division. Alf's funeral took place on Tuesday the 7 November, 2017.

Former PC/DC Michael (Mick) John Patrick Parsons, 75 years died on Friday 20th October 2017 in Doncaster Hospital having been ill with cancer for some time. He retired in the 1990's as Sergeant serving in many locations across Doncaster one of these being Doncaster Town Centre CID for many years. Mick's funeral took place on Thursday 9 November 2017.

Former PC Maureen Wilkes passed away on 27 September 2017. Maureen worked in HQ Prosecutions. Maureen's funeral took place at Hutcliffe Wood crematorium on Wednesday 11 October 2017.

Former PC Roy Worsfold, 93 years passed away on 29 September 2017. Roy worked in Traffic. Roy's funeral took place at Thursday 19 October 2017.

Former PC Michael (Mick) Old, 61 years has passed away. Mick served at Cudworth, Wombwell, Rawmarsh, Rotherham and Wath and after retirement from the service worked as a support member of staff at Atlas Court. Mick's funeral took place on Friday 29 September 2017.

Former Detective Constable Roger Lucas ,70 years has passed away. Roger retired as a Detective Constable in Doncaster Town Centre CID. His funeral will be at 1.20pm Thursday 7th September at Rosehill Crematorium Doncaster, then afterwards at the Mount Pleasant Hotel Bawtry Road Rossington.

Former Detective Inspector Don Rogerson, 83 years, has passed away. Don served at Attercliffe and other stations in Sheffield and Rotherham. His funeral will take place at 1.45pn on Thursday 31 August 2017 at West Wiltshire Crematorium, Semington.

Former Sergeant Stewart Collinson who died last weekend after a short illness.  Stewart worked most if not all of his service in the Rotherham area and will have been known to many colleagues. His funeral took place 16 August 2017.

Former PC Ron Calvert, 87 years has passed away in May this year. Ron served at Woodseats, West Bar and on the Speed Radar team. His funeral took place on 11 June 2017.

Former sergeant Gordon Pearson, 76 years, died on Sunday 23 July 2017. Gordon served in Doncaster area retiring as Sergeant. He was a life member of NARPO being active for many years on the committee along with being a long standing member of the Doncaster Choir while as a serving officer and later as retired. Gordon's funeral took place on Wednesday 9 August 2017 at Rosehill Crematorium Doncaster.

Former Detective Constable Trevor Smith, 78 years, has passed away. Trevor served at Hammerton Road in uniform, plain clothes and CID, as well as HQ CID Stolen Vehicle Squad and the RCS. Trevor's funeral took place on 22 July 2017.

Former Inspector Ernie Jackson, 70 years, has passed away. Ernie spent a lot of his career in the Doncaster area. His funeral took place at 4.00pm on Friday 28 July 2017 at Rose Hill Crematorium, Doncaster. No flowers.

Former Superintendent Kevin Doyle, 77 years, has passed away. Kevin served in Barnsley and Rotherham as well as other postings. His funeral took place on 27 July 2017.

Former PC Jayne Morris, 49 years, has passed away. She was the community PC for Goldthorpe for a large part of her service. Funeral details will be circulated when known.

Former ACC Terry Watson, 82 years, passed away last night. He had suffered a severe stroke some months ago and never recovered. Terry served across the Force including Barnsley and Training. His funeral took place on Friday 21 July, 2017.

Former Constable David Jack Wheatley, 65 yrs passed away on Wednesday 28 June 2017 in St John's Hospice Doncaster. David worked at the old A2 District of Doncaster both in uniform and retiring from CID. His funeral took place Friday 14 July 2017.

Former PC 623 Mick Halpin has passed away on Sunday 4 June 2017 at Bolsover hospital after a short illness. Mick served at Woodseats Police Station. His funeral took place at Brimmington Crematorium 1.10pm Tuesday 27 June 2017.

Former Detective Sergeant Mick Tissington, 80 years, passed away earlier this week. Mick served in CID across Sheffield and Rotherham as well as the Regional Crime Squad. Mick's funeral took place at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium at 10.30 am on Friday 16 June 2017 and afterwards at the Cross Scythes, Baslow Road, Totley. Family flowers only.

Former Det.Sgt Phil Jowitt, 64 years, sadly passed away in St.Lukes Hospice on Thursday 25th May 2017. Phil's funeral took place on Friday 9th June 2017 at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium, Sheffield.

Former Superintendent Edward (Eddie) Murphy,  51 years has died. Eddie was known to many in Doncaster and across SYP having worked in various roles both in uniform, CID and Headquarters. There is a request for family privacy at this present time with no calls to the family home please. There are no funeral arrangements known at this stage.

Former Police Inspector Raymond Lacey-Hatton died in hospital of kidney failure on 20 April 2017 age 92yrs. His funeral is to be at City Road, Sheffield at 2.30pm on Thursday 4 May 2017.

Former PC 602 Roy Hirst, 78 years, has died 7 April 2017, after a long struggle with Prostrate Cancer, and Dementia. His funeral took place on  20 April  2017 at 12 40pm. Roy served most of his career at Hammerton Road Police Station.

Former PC Barrie Cooper has died. Barry served in Barnsley and was well know at Niagara where he worked for a number of years. His funeral took place on Wednesday 12 April 2017.

Former Inspector David Bullett has passed away.His funeral took place on 28 March 2017.

Former Sergeant John Broan Hessell, 81 years, has passed away on 27 February 2017. He served most of his career in Rotherham and Attercliffe. His funeral took place on Monday 13 March.

Former PC Kat Millward (nee Kathleen Bingley) 60 years,  passed away in the early hours of this morning at Ashgate Hospice following a long battle with cancer. Her funeral took place on Monday 6 March 2017.

Former Chief Superintendent Dan Hurst died at home on the 17 of February 2017 from heart failure. He joined the then Sheffield City Police force on the 29 of December 1952 and was stationed at West Bar in what is now the fire and police museum as Pc 574. 

Richard Collier, 66 years of Barncliffe Road, Sheffield passed away suddenly on holiday in Lanzarote on 26 January 2017. There are no details as to his funeral at this time.

Former Inspector John Senior Townend, 71 years, has died. He had been in hospital in Sheffield for several weeks following an operation. John retired from SYP in the late 1990's as an Inspector working Doncaster area. John also worked at Barnsley.
