Former Chief Superintendent Bob Bradley, 84 years, died on Sunday 18 December 2016. Bob was a member and former chairman of Wakefield NARPO. He started his career in West Yorkshire but retired as the head of traffic in South Yorkshire.

Former Superintendent Michael (Mick) Smith, 79 years, has passed away after suffering with throat cancer. Mick was the sub-divisional commander at Hackenthorpe when he retired but had spent many years in CID including a lot as DCI in charge of Commercial Branch. Mick's funeral took place at 2.30pm on Wednesday 4 January 2017.

Former PC George Victor Howard, 69 years,  died on 29 November 2016. Mr Howard retired on a medical pension in 1980 after serving less than 2 years. No details are known regarding his funeral.

I have been informed that former PC Ron Craigie, 66 years has passed away. Ron retired from Sheffield South in 1998. Ron's took place on Friday 16 December.1

Former Inspector John Edwin Burns, 86 years died on 3 December 2016. In the days before CPS he conducted countless successful criminal prosecutions for the Police.  His funeral will took place on Tuesday 13 December 2016.

Former Inspector Tony Skelton, 80 years passed away on Sunday 27 November 2016. Tony worked at Hammerton Road and other stations in Sheffield. He was a very good cricketer. Tony's funeral took place on the 13 December 2016.  

Former Superintendent Thomas James (Jim) Loughlin, 80 yrs died on Sunday 27 November 2016 in Hallamshire Hospital. He worked within the Doncaster and Rotherham areas. Jim's funeral took place on Monday 12 December 2016 at Rosehill Crematorium Doncaster.

Kevin Hague, 61 years has passed away. He had cancer of the spine. Kevin's funeral took place on Tuesday 6 December at Wentworth Church, Wentworth, Nr. Rotherham.

Former sergeant Brian Whitaker, 86yrs has died. Brian retired as a Sergeant working A2 Rossington and Doncaster Town. He died Tuesday 25th October 2016 in a care home were he had been for some time suffering from Alzheimer's. His funeral took place on Tuesday 8 November 2016 at Telford Crematorium.

Rodger Lee age 69 yrs. died at 5pm Monday 24 October 2016 in Scunthorpe Hospital. His funeral took place on Friday 4 November 2016 at Woodlands Crematorium, Brumby Wood Lane Scunthorpe.

Former PC David John Miley, 63 years has passed away on Tuesday 4 October 2016. David served at A2 Thorne being known to many across Doncaster. There wasno official funeral it is to be a private family only Green Woodland burial (David's Instructions).

I have been informed of the death of pensioner Mr Alan Reed aged 90 yrs of Bessacarr, Doncaster. Alan died after a short illness on the 10 July 2016 and the funeral has already taken place.

Tony Hall aged 81yrs has died. He joined Doncaster Borough and retired from South Yorkshire finally working in Crime Prevention Doncaster. He lived in Bridlington. His funeral has already taken place.

Former Detective Sergeant John Brown died on the 18 August 2016. He worked for many years in CID Records and opened the batting for the Force cricket team in the 60's and 70's. Jack's funeral took place at 10.45am on Thursday 1 September 2016 at Grenoside Crematorium.

Former constable James (Jim) Gibson Bunting aged 88 died on 28th July 2016 at home. He joined the force in 1952 and served mainly at West Bar, latterly as an intelligence collator, before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the police golf team. Jim's funeral took place on 11 August 2016.

Former detective constable Malcolm Forster, 72 years, has died. Malcolm worked mostly at Barnsley. No funeral details are know at this time.

Former sergeant Malcolm Hannan has died. Malcolm served in Rotherham, Sheffield and in Traffic. There are no details regarding his funeral at present.

Former detective sergeant George Charlesworth, 81 years, who served for many years in Rotherham and Sheffield areas has died. His funeral took place on Thursday 7 July 2016 at Grenoside crematorium.

Former Inspector Jack Steele, 76 years, has died. Jack served mostly in Barnsley. Jack's funeral took place on Tuesday 28 June 2016.

Former Sgt Colin Dawson died on 13 June 2016. Colin had been ill for some time. He retired as a custody Sgt at Main Street, Rotherham, but his career saw him serve mainly in the Rotherham area and he had a spell working as a traffic officer in Rotherham. His funeral took place on Friday 1 July at Doncaster crematorium.

George Daniel Bland, 88 yrs has passed away He died on Thursday 26 May 2016 after a short illness. He retired from South Yorkshire Police in the mid 1970's whilst working as Desk Sergeant at Thorne. His funeral took place on  Monday 6 June 2016.

Nottinghamshire NARPO have informed us that Gerald (Gerry) Frederick Holmes, 79 years, died on the 14 April 2016. He joined the Nottingham County Police as a cadet at Newark. During his regular service he was station at Retford both on the beat and Traffic.  He was also a plan drawer. After 15 years service he resigned and later joined the South Yorkshire Police where he served at Doncaster and Sheffield.  He was a driving instructor as well as a Courts Officer, Licensing and was in the Visual Aids Unit. He retired in 1988. His funeral took place on Thursday 26 April 2016.

Former DC Malcolm Moss-Ward,69 years passed away on 19 April 2016. Malcolm served at West Bar and Woodseats. His funeral took place at Grenoside Crematorium on Friday 29 April 2016.

Former sergeant Barry Arnold Rodgers aged 78 yrs died on 1 April 2016. Barry retired as a sergeant working in the Traffic Department. Barry's funeral took place 1.00pm Tuesday 26 April 2016.

Former PC 620 Chris (Budgie) Yates has passed away suddenly. Chris worked at Hackenthorpe and Woodseats. Chris's funeral will took at Chesterfield Crematorium on Thursday 21 April 2016. 

Former Detective Chief Inspector James Anthony (Tony) West aged 76yrs died on the 27 March 2016. Tony retired in 1989 after 32 years service. He began as a cadet with the West Riding force (yes force, not service!), then PC at Rossington and Cusworth before becoming D.O. at Edlington. His postings included DS at Doncaster CID drugs squad, uniform Inspector at Rawmarsh and D.I. at Wombwell before retiring as DCI at Barnsley. Tony's funeral took place on Tuesday 19 April 2016 at Rosehill Crematorium, Doncaster.

Former PC Peter Thornhill, 75 years, died on Monday 14 March 2016. His funeral took place on Monday 4 April 2016.

Former PC Keith Hollingsworth, 71 years,  has passed away after a short illness. Keith was a Barnsley officer who for many years up to his retirement was the Coroner's Officer. After retirement he took on the same role as a civilian, working for Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. He retired from that post last year. Keith's funeral took place at Ardsley Crematorium, Barnsley on Tuesday 22 March 2016.

Former PC Keith Gliniecki, 60 years, collapsed and died suddenly on Monday 14 March 2016. Keith worked in Rotherham and Sheffield during his career, starting at Dinnington. Keith's funeral took place on Tuesday 5 April 2016.

Former Police Chaplain George Pendleton, 76 years, died suddenly on Monday 14 March 2016. The funeral took place on Thursday 24 March 2016 at Woodlands Crematorium, Brumby Wood Lane, Scunthorpe.

Former PC John Bedford, 88 years, passed away on 6 March 2016. John worked at Woodseats, was the "village bobby" at Dore and worked in the Road Safety department. His funeral took place at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium on Tuesday 29 March 2016.

We have received information that former PC Arnold Perry passed away on 9 February 2016. Arnold worked at West Bar Police Station. There are no details regarding his funeral, which may have already taken place. After retirement, Arnold went to live in Great Yarmouth.

Former PC Eric Quanborough, 71 years, died on 23 February 2016.Eric worked in Doncaster and Doncaster Traffic. Eric's funeral took place at 1.40pm on Wednesday 9 March 2016 at Rosehull Crematorium, Cantley Road, Doncaster.

Former sergeant Bob McGill, 80 years, passed away on 18 February 2016. Bob served at Attercliffe, in Traffis and was a sergeant at Woodseats. Bob's funeral took place at Grenoside Crematorium on Thursday 3 March 2016.

Tony Motley, 80 years passed away on 7 February 2016. He had been very poorly with Alzheimer's for the past 5 years. Tony's funeral took place at City Road Crematorium on Monday 22 February 2016.

Former sergeant Steve Richardson has passed away. Steve served most of his career in Barnsley. Steve's funeral was at Barnsley Crematorium on Tuesday 16 February and afterwards at The Edmunds Arms, Worsborough.

Former sergeant Martin William Lanaghan, 64 yrs  has passed away. Martin's wife Steph died in 2011 and has no family after their only child, Paul died in 2002 aged just 30 yrs. He retired as Sergeant at AIB Investigation having worked across SYP area therefore will be remembered by many. Martin's funeral took place on Monday 22 February 2016 at Rosehill Crematorium, Doncaster.

Frank Bowker, 89 yrs from Doncaster has passed away. Frank had been a valued member of the South Yorkshire Police choir for many years.  Frank's funeral took place on Monday 8 February 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Balby, Doncaster and afterwards at Rosehill Crematorium.

Retired Inspector Jim Reddington 85 years, who joined the West Riding force, but spent much of his service in the Rotherham & Sheffield area has passed away. His funeral took place on 25 January 2016.

Former Inspector Keith Hodgkinson 74yrs sadly passed away on Sunday 10th January 2016. Keith served at many places including Rotherham and Attercliffe. His funeral took place on Wednesday 27 January 2016 at Rotherham Crematorium and afterwards at the New York Stadium

Former Constable Dennis Bristow, 85 years, died on 8 January 2016. Denis spent a lot of his career in Traffic.

Former Sergeant Arthur Morris BEM, 83 yrs. Arthur served his career in Doncaster and was awarded the BEM in 1968 following the arrest of suspects for a murder in Bessacarr. Funeral details are unknown at this stage.

Former Detective Sergeant Kenneth (Ken) Johnson, 69 years, who worked in the Doncaster area, died on 20 December 2015. Ken's funeral took place on Tuesday 12 January 2016 at Rosehill Crematorium, Doncaster.
